Montana Campus Corps:
College Students Meeting Critical Community Needs
Being a teacher by Corey Ledbetter

Part of my service was teaching an eighty hour Outdoor Emergency Care course to Ski Patrol/Search and Rescue. I was very worried about my skills as a teacher and my level of experience as an OEC provider. Over the months of the course I was having difficulty reading the students and felt like some might be frustrated by my organization and level of instruction. At the end of the course the students were very appreciative of the time I put in and seamed happy with the class. Not all feedback was positive but I feel like I was able to grow as an instructor and will be better prepared for the next time. It felt good to provide a needed service to a group of volunteers, see them succeed, and be appreciated.
