College Students Meeting Critical Community Needs
More than volunteering...Lifelong lessions! by Brittani Wiersma

I decided to join AmeriCorps because I wanted to use the time I was required to complete for nursing school as a way to fund my education. However, after beginning the program I began to look for opportunities to serve in my community. I love that I can get my family involved by recruiting them and helping them understand that volunteering and caring about others is an important part of life. We have since started volunteering at our church, donating and getting involved with the local crisis pregnancy center and assisting in our neighborhoods when there is help needed. I am excited to see where else I can get involved after my school is done and I have more free time! I hope that my children will carry on a legacy of volunteerism and community support through watching what I am learning through AmeriCorps!
