The Joy of Serving by Kaylee Fisher
As a nursing student at MSU-Bozeman most of my service hours for Campus Corps were acquired while doing clinicals at the hospital. During these clinicals I had endless opportunities to interact with patients who were sick and often in pain. As a future nurse my job will be to provide care for those who are sick, but I learned a new aspect of nursing while doing my service project than can be taught in any college class. I learned, through personal experience, the joy of serving others, especially those who are sick. Time and time again I was blessed by the smiles I received from the patients I was caring for who, after simply having their hand held for a few minutes, would look at me and smile from ear to ear in gratitude of their care. I think this lesson is something I will take with me and continue to remember as I begin my career as a nurse.
