Montana Campus Corps:
College Students Meeting Critical Community Needs
Serving Through Poverty by Suszanne Schmaus

The last three months serving at a Primary School in my hometown has been such an enriching time for me. I had the opportunity to work with great staff and wonderful children that are at a disadvantage economically. Many children in the class were neglected in some way in their homes and I was glad to be able to be their mentor and role model. Some days I felt like I was taking steps backwards but later gained them.
It was very heart-warming to see the students come together during our food drive. Many of the students that I had expected to bring nothing, brought the most. This class of students worked very well together and I would love to have all of them in my classroom next year.
