Working With LGBTQ Youth by Seth Hershman

During my time of service at The National Coalition Building Institute of Missoula I got the amazing opportunity to work with numerous youth, specifically those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual, intersex, two spirited, or those who may be questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. During my service I got to co-facilitate a weekly LGBTQ youth support group and it has been incredible. I have learned so much from the young people, both good and bad. I have developed personally and professionally in so many aspects. It has been very influential for me to be able to be a support for the youth as well as be part of an LGBTQ support group. Seeing how much of a positive impact it has had on the young people and myself makes me wish there were support groups just like it everywhere.
