While volunteering for campus corps and working in the dental hygiene clinic at MSU-COT, I was able to work with a variety of people and I learned so much from them. Not only was I able to refine my recently learned skills from working on them, I also learned so much from talking with them. When we first started working in clinic I dreaded the day we would have to see our first patient. Now it is my favorite part of the program. I learned that just by showing up and being patient with me, my patients are giving to me as much if not more than I am providing to them. It seems like a cliche but I really got more from volunteering than I gave. I look forward to meeting new people and continuing my growth and education by working with them.
